UD9 - Urban Drone Tank
The UD9 was a common sight on the battle fields 40 years ago. The tank is small, easily controlled by a crew of two, a single crew with a vehicle interface jack or via the drone AI that was standard on the model. The tank could be armed with an anti-tank gun, an anti-personnel system, a laser cannon or a bank of rockets. The model was inexpensive, cheap to maintain, cheap to modify and easily salvaged off the battlefield. A repair, refit and maybe some paint would put the tank back in service in short order.
The Sellus megacorp produced these in Europe, Asia and South America. They were a top seller. However, their popularity dropped when it was revealed that Sellus did not have any UD9s in service within their own defense forces.
A popular video show renewed interest briefly in the UD9 by staging large scale drone-on-drone battles featuring the UD9. It is thought that Sellus was attempting to cull their overstock of replacement parts and they funded the show.
